Incentives are available to employers for eligible employees participating in a traineeship. Incentives are available to employers depending on an employee’s job function and employee type. You are not required to pay back incentive payments if the employee leaves your employment. Generally incentives are payable as follows (per trainee):
$1250.00 for new entrants 3 months after registration for the traineeship for a Certificate II level qualification.
$1500.00 for youth and existing workers 3 months after registration for the traineeship for a Certificate III level qualification.
$2500.00 on completion of a Certificate III level qualification.
Incentives are funded by the Department of Education and Training.
HOW LONG DOES A TRAINEESHIP TAKE?
Generally traineeships are based on a 12 month contract for a Certificate II level qualification, 12 months for a Certificate III level and 24 months for a combined Certificate II/III qualification.
Trainees may however progress through the traineeship more quickly if desired at a minimum of 6 months for a Certificate II or III level qualification and 12 months for a combined Certificate II/III qualification.
Note that these time frames are applicable to full time employees. Part time employees would complete their traineeship in either 18 or 36 months depending on the qualification.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Nationwide Training will charge you for the traineeship in line with your incentive payments as follows. Fees differ depending on the qualification and industry. Please refer to our qualification pages for fee structures.
WHAT ARE MY RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN EMPLOYER?
As an employer participating in the traineeship program you would have the following responsibilities:
- Allowing the employee to be available for assessing a minimum of 4 times per annum throughout the traineeship.
- Ensure the trainee receives appropriate training, in a supportive work environment, to develop all the competencies specified in the Training Program Outline;
- Ensure a competent person will supervise the trainee at all times;
- Provide appropriate facilities to train the trainee.
- Allow the employee to attend off site training if required. For example, if forklift, dangerous goods or first aid units are chosen as part of the traineeship.
- Complete the relevant paperwork including incentive claim forms. You may also be required to sign Nationwide Training documentation such as a training contract, assessment validations etc.
- Selecting units for the employee to complete as part of their traineeship. Nationwide Training will assist you in this process.
